Barbara Ehrenreich is a witty writer, which is what makes her summary of the publishing process, here, so pleasant to read. (It's also got a nice perspective on blogging.) I especially like the way she transforms that old advice -- "Start by writing articles, then move up to books" -- as steps for personal growth, rather than merely what the market demands.
