Wyoming women getting their due
As this article notes, Teva Scheer has recently published a biography of Wyoming's only woman governor, Nellie Tayloe Ross. I admire Scheer's discussion of her research. Sounds like she overcame some problems that have also faced me in my work on Caroline Lockhart: uncovering childhood experiences that are so important in shaping adult character, and digging out the stories excluded from the official tales sanctioned by the teller.
For "the Equality State," known for its early support of women's voting rights, there are darned few biographies available about women of Wyoming. I'm glad Scheer has opened this door, and I hope to follow her soon.
Thanks to David Dominick for the link. I'm always interested in feedback, via info at johnclaytonbooks. d dot d com
