The word on western reviews
Allen Jones provides one of my favorite spots on the Web: a weekly book-review roundup. He covers what's being reviewed by Western papers, plus what national outlets are saying about books about the West.
He's got links to all the reviews, so you can investigate more yourself. What's more, this is a worthy example of meta-journalism: since journalists and book reviewers love to read, they're likely to read critiques of themselves. So even on a week when I'm not particularly interested in the books under consideration, I appreciate Jones' calls for more substantial reviews.
Direct links to some of Jones' previous columns are here and here.
Jones' weekly roundup of literary blogs I find a bit less focused and useful, but there's always time.
