Publishing 101
I have rarely seen such a comprehensive, effective, and depressing account of what it’s like to publish a book than this story in the current Columbia Journalism Review. Gal Beckerman has great narrative skill, but somehow I can't imagine her trying to leverage this article into a book contract.
The bad news: None of this comes as a surprise to me, and I still want to be in the business.
The really bad news: Despite the publicity in this article, Be Not Afraid for You Have Sons in America is still languishing at about 50,000 at amazon.
