With every column he becomes more like David Brooks 

It's funny: we've spent the last 30 years worrying that all of America is becoming one homogeneous strip mall with no sense of local or regional character.

Now here's David Brooks saying that to the contrary, places actually keep becoming more like themselves, stratified and hetergeneous.

And the tone is still one of alarm!
