A soul-liberating decency
I'm not exactly sure why the New York Times felt the need to have Richard Russo explain to us about small towns. And as we come upon the tenth anniversary of my book proposal for "Small Town Bound" (it took two years to go from proposal to publication), I didn't find much new in the article.
But Richard Russo is a wonderful writer, and when he speaks of the way a small town forces in you a soul-liberating decency, I ache with admiration at the aptness of the phrase.
