Sox fans unite! Are there 20,000 of us?

I'm still thrilled about this idea the Free State Project has. (See yesterday's post for details.) Last night I was speaking with my friend Susan Bury (www.staufferbury.com), who just won a contract to work on restoring sage grouse populations in Montana. "Easy!" I said. "Just convince 20,000 sage grouse to move here!"

Sage grouse pay no taxes in Montana. They're rarely subject to asset forfeiture or abuses of eminent domain. And they are rarely taken advantage of by inefficient monopolies. Sure, they may feel victimized since it's legal to kill them, in season, but think what effects 20,000 of them could have on our state legislature.

I can see all sorts of interest groups taking up this strategy. Why should anyone ever just up and move to another state, when you can join together with 19,999 other people who share your politics and have an impact!

Maybe 20,000 Red Sox fans could move to New York and outlaw the Yankees. Just a thought.
